Renault unveils electric beach‑buggy JP4x4 concept at Roland‑Garros

Renault presented the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept at the French Open (Roland‑Garros) on 18 May 2026. The show‑car reinterprets the 1969 Plein Air and 1981 JP4 versions as an open‑top, beach‑buggy style vehicle with a pickup‑type rear opening. It is built on the Renault 4 E‑Tech platform and features a second electric motor on the rear axle, delivering permanent all‑wheel‑drive.

The concept raises ground clearance by 15 mm, widens the track, and rides on 18‑inch wheels fitted with Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ 225/55 tyres. Its exterior is painted Emerald Green, while the interior uses a vivid orange colour scheme. Design touches include surf‑board mounting on the roof, skateboard storage, textile‑covered door panels and dashboard, and bucket seats reminiscent of the historic “Egyptian Mummy” seats.

Renault described the vehicle as “a chic and modern beach car” and highlighted its potential to showcase the flexibility of the RGEV small‑platform for a B‑segment electric car with four‑wheel‑drive. No production schedule has been announced, and the JP4x4 remains a concept demonstration following earlier models such as Fl4wer Power, Savane 4×4 and Vision 4Rescue.
