Renault updates Renault 5 E-Tech with increased range and new battery

Renault has announced significant updates to its Renault 5 E-Tech electric model, focusing on improved range, new battery technology, and enhanced personalization options.

Key technical improvements include aerodynamic refinements, such as redesigned side mirrors and a lower body, alongside optimized battery management software. These changes increase the driving range for existing configurations: the 40 kWh Urban Range now reaches up to 315 km WLTP, while the 52 kWh Comfort Range has increased from 410 km to 430 km WLTP.

A new entry-level version, the Five, will feature a 36.5 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery and a more powerful 110 hp motor, providing a range of approximately 305 km. This LFP battery is noted for being more cost-effective to manufacture. Additionally, the Five model now includes 80 kW DC fast charging as standard.

Design updates include new color options like Flame Red and Schist Grey, as well as aesthetic tributes to the classic Clio Williams, featuring blue paintwork and gold wheels. Technological upgrades include the integration of Google Gemini AI for improved voice assistance and the introduction of the Smart driving mode, which automatically adjusts settings based on driving conditions.
