Renca project proposes new 22,000-capacity arena in Santiago
A new project aims to construct a large-scale multipurpose arena in Renca, Santiago, designed to host international concerts, sporting events, and major shows. The proposed venue would have a capacity of 22,000 spectators, which is approximately 5,000 more than the current capacity of the Movistar Arena.
The initiative seeks to address the current shortage of large-scale venues in the capital, following capacity and infrastructure challenges at the Estadio Nacional and Movistar Arena. The project, designed by architects Matías Clot, Lili Allen, and Juan Curcel, is located near the Costanera Norte exit and the airport. While the Municipality of Renca reports that the project has solid financing, it has not yet entered the formal environmental evaluation process, and a start date for construction has not been established.
