Rende political group demands clarity on regional ties

The political group Laboratorio Civico has called on the mayor of Rende to clarify the nature of his relationship with the Calabria Region. The group raised concerns following a meeting between Sandro Principe and Roberto Occhiuto, describing the interaction as a “political photograph” that suggests the city may be yielding to powerful regional interests.

Laboratorio Civico is demanding transparency regarding several critical local issues, including urban planning, the development of a “Città unica,” the future of the local hospital and Policlinico, and building regulations in Rende. The group emphasized that citizens deserve to understand the political project driving these administrative relationships, particularly as the Calabria Region has previously threatened to appoint commissioners to municipalities failing to maintain proper urban planning tools.
