Renee Good's family files federal lawsuits over ICE agent shooting
The family of Renee Good has filed two federal lawsuits following the January shooting of the 37-year-old US citizen by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis. The lawsuits, alleging wrongful death and civil rights conspiracy, name the agent involved, Jonathan Ross, as well as several current and former Trump administration officials, including Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Tom Homan, and Corey Lewandowski.
The incident occurred during a federal immigration enforcement operation known as ‘Operation Metro Surge’. Video footage shows Good in her vehicle honking and attempting to move away from officers before Ross fired shots through the vehicle, fatally striking her.
The plaintiffs, Good’s partner Becca Good and her brother Brent Ganger, seek accountability for the incident. The legal filings also allege efforts by the Department of Justice to avoid a civil rights investigation and attempts to bring criminal charges against Good herself. A White House spokesperson stated the administration will ‘vigorously defend’ against the lawsuits.
