Renesas opens Physical AI & Robotics Lab in Beijing
Renesas Electronics Corporation has officially opened a Physical AI & Robotics Lab in Beijing, China. The facility is designed to help customers demonstrate, validate, and jointly develop next-generation robotic systems, serving as a central hub for the company’s physical AI strategy from proof-of-concept to large-scale deployment.
The lab integrates hardware, software, AI modeling, control, sensing, power management, and system-level verification. This approach targets the growing demand for physical AI, where intelligence operates in real-time within the physical world rather than just digital environments. Humanoid robots are identified as a primary application for this technology.
Renesas Vice President Ivo Marocco stated that the company currently addresses approximately 30% of the humanoid robot Bill of Materials (BOM) and aims to expand that coverage to 70% by leveraging its expertise in control, power, sensing, and software. Yvonne Liu, President of Renesas China, noted that China’s collaborative ecosystem and supply chain make it a leading region for robotics innovation.
