Renewable Energy Communities expand through new support initiatives

New initiatives are promoting the development of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) to facilitate local clean energy production and sharing.

The LIFE ISLET project, co-funded by the European Union, has launched dedicated helpdesks to support the energy transition in Mediterranean islands. These helpdesks act as ‘One-Stop Shops’ providing technical, administrative, and practical guidance to citizens and local authorities. The goal is to increase energy resilience, reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, and combat energy poverty in island regions.

In Molfetta, the ‘Arca di Pace’ Renewable and Solidarity Energy Community was presented. Promoted by the Diocese, this initiative involves parishes, associations, and private citizens. The project aims to combine technical energy sharing with social solidarity, focusing on supporting vulnerable populations at risk of energy poverty through a collaborative network of resources and responsibilities.
