Renewable energy projects expand across Latin America

Renewable energy infrastructure is expanding across Latin America through several major solar and gas developments.

In Argentina, the Ampajango Solar Park in Catamarca has reached 80% completion and is expected to begin injecting 5 MW of clean energy into the grid by mid-September, with a total potential of 12 MW. Additionally, SECCO has commercially enabled the 7 MW Bella Vista solar park in Corrientes and is nearing completion of the 20 MW Esquina Solar Park. In Mendoza, Genneia SA is progressing with the Mendoza Sur project, which aims to be the country's largest solar park with 404 MW of capacity.

In Peru, significant investments are underway. Six renewable projects, including solar and wind, are under construction with nearly US$ 1 billion in investment. Furthermore, Piura is being positioned as a strategic gas hub to enhance national energy security through natural gas resource development.

In Mexico, the Barajas Solar project in Coahuila has entered environmental evaluation. The project, promoted by Armería New Energy, includes 130.3 MWp of solar capacity and a 103.5 MWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery storage system.

In Brazil, SecPower has commenced production of lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries in Cambuí, Minas Gerais, with an annual capacity of up to 396 MWh. Meanwhile, in Paraguay, ATOME is conducting feasibility studies for a 300 MWp solar plant in Villeta to support industrial fertilizer production.
