Renewable Energy Expansion and Climate‑Driven Investment in Spain

Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, aerothermal and geothermal are increasingly integrated into homes, businesses and industrial facilities across Spain. Technological advances have improved equipment efficiency, smart management systems and material performance, making renewable solutions more accessible and supporting a shift toward a more sustainable and efficient energy model.

At the same time, climate‑induced extreme weather events are prompting a reassessment of energy‑infrastructure resilience. A study by the Universitat Politècnica de València and Fundación Naturgy highlights the need for new design, maintenance and operational strategies to guarantee continuous supply during droughts, floods, heatwaves and other severe conditions. The analysis stresses that investment in adaptable, robust energy networks is essential to protect hospitals, communications, water, transport and industry from supply disruptions.
