Turkey announces energy expansion in Gabar and Black Sea
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has announced significant developments in the country's energy sector. In the Gabar region of Şırnak, daily oil production has reached 84,000 barrels, with targets to exceed 100,000 barrels. Bayraktar noted that exploration efforts in the west of Gabar are nearing the discovery of important new reserves.
In the Black Sea, the Sakarya Gas Field has entered its second phase. A massive offshore platform, approximately 300 meters long and comparable in height to a 40-story skyscraper, has been deployed to process natural gas at the sea surface. This facility aims to double production from 10 million to 20 million cubic meters per day, transporting the gas 170 kilometers to Filyos.
Separately, Ufuk Alparslan of the think tank Ember reported that global renewable energy production is increasingly meeting new electricity demand. Last year, clean energy production grew by 887 terawatt-hours, outpacing the 849 terawatt-hour increase in total global electricity demand.
