Renewable energy projects expand in Italy

Renewable energy projects are expanding in Italy through both municipal initiatives and private sector developments. In Livorno, the city has begun installing a photovoltaic system with storage batteries on the roof of the North Area Citizen Service Center in Piazza Saragat. The €250,000 project, partially funded by a regional grant, features an 88 kWp peak system designed to produce 105 MWh of clean electricity annually. This installation aims to make the facility energy self-sufficient and is expected to save the municipality approximately €40,000 per year in electricity costs.

In the Turin area, FRV Italia is developing a large-scale solar park in Leinì. Spanning 23 hectares, the project will utilize approximately 24,648 monocrystalline modules mounted on solar trackers to achieve a capacity of 16.27 MW. The facility is estimated to produce roughly 24 GWh of energy per year. To integrate the plant into the grid, an underground power line will connect the site to the Cebrosa primary substation in Settimo Torinese.
