Renewable energy sector sentiment declines in Berlin and Brandenburg

The second LEE industry index for Berlin and Brandenburg reveals a significant downturn in sentiment within the renewable energy sector. Compared to the previous year, optimism has declined, particularly in the wind energy industry, where only 33% of respondents rate their current business situation as good or very good.

Approximately 63% of industry participants report that their economic situation has worsened over the last twelve months. Looking ahead, 52% of respondents expect their business situation to deteriorate in the coming year, a figure that rises to 58% within the wind sector. This trend is echoed by IG Metall Küste, which reported that 54% of surveyed works councils anticipate negative developments for the wind industry in the coming years.

The solar industry in the region also faces a pessimistic outlook. About half of the surveyed actors expect both a significant decline in business conditions and job cuts, with only 11% anticipating improvements. Furthermore, expectations for the expansion of new renewable energy plants are low; only 15% expect growth, while half of the participants anticipate fewer new installations in 2026 than in the previous year.
