Renfe expands Galicia rail services and introduces Avant travel savings
Renfe has announced significant enhancements to its rail services in Galicia and new pricing options for frequent travelers. Starting October 15, the operator will reinforce the Media Distancia Vigo-Santiago-A Coruña and Avant Ourense-Santiago-A Coruña lines during peak hours.
Capacity on the Vigo-Santiago-A Coruña route will increase by more than 24% through the introduction of new services and higher-capacity trains, such as the S106 model which offers over 500 seats. New service schedules include a 9:00 departure from Vigo Urzáiz to A Coruña and a 20:00 service to facilitate evening returns. Additionally, some existing services will see adjusted departure times and increased capacity through double compositions.
For frequent commuters, Renfe has released the Pase Vía for the final quarter of 2026, applicable to Avant services. This pass can offer savings of up to 90% compared to general fares. To assist users, Renfe has launched an online calculator that allows travelers to estimate potential savings based on their specific commuting habits before purchasing the pass.
