Renfe reports minimal impact from 24‑hour rail strike, participation under 2%

Renfe said the 24‑hour strike called by the Sindicato Ferroviario on Monday affected only a small fraction of its workforce. The company recorded a 0 % participation rate during the night shift, 1.59 % in the morning and 2.49 % in the afternoon, giving an overall average of 1.83 % across the group. Renfe claims commercial services (AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity) operated normally with no cancellations, noting only a single AVE Barcelona‑Madrid train was coupled with another. Public‑service trains (Cercanías, Rodalies, Media Distancia) saw a 4.5 % impact in the morning and 5.1 % in the afternoon; the effect was 0 % in Madrid Cercanías and about 5 % in Rodalies.

The union disputes those figures, alleging irregularities in the implementation of minimum services, delayed communications and pressure on workers. It reported 124 incidents affecting roughly 4,600 travellers and said it would take the case to court and call another strike on 15 July.
