Renfe strike triggers reduced train services across Spain on July 15

A nationwide strike called by the Sindicato Ferroviario (SF‑Intersindical) will affect Renfe operations on Wednesday, 15 July. The Ministry of Transport and Mobility Sustainable has defined minimum service levels to preserve mobility during the holiday travel peak.

For Cercanías, 75 % of trains will run during peak hours and 50 % at other times. In Media Distancia services, at least 66 % of scheduled trains will operate, while 73 % of Alta Velocidad and Larga Distancia services are guaranteed. This means that of the 343 high‑speed and long‑distance trains planned, 249 will run, and of the 650 medium‑distance trains, 426 will run.

The reduced schedule applies to all regions, including Andalusia, Castilla y León and other major corridors such as Madrid‑Salamanca, Madrid‑León and connections to Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country. Travelers are advised to check train status in advance and can change or refund tickets at no cost for affected services.
