Renfe to reduce seat capacity on Lleida-Barcelona Avant services

Renfe is replacing Avlo series 106 trains on four daily Avant services between Lleida and Barcelona starting Monday. This decision follows the detection of fissures in the bogies of these specific train models.

The substitution will affect two services in each direction: departures from Barcelona at 07:05 and 19:23, and departures from Lleida at 18:05 and 21:30. The current series 106 trains offer 581 seats, whereas the replacement series 120 trains will operate in double composition to provide a maximum of 476 seats. This results in a reduction of 105 places per journey.

The Avant Catalunya user platform has expressed indignation and concern, noting that the reduction directly impacts hundreds of workers and students who rely on these daily commutes. The platform also criticized recent management for blocking reservations and changing tickets without prior notice. Additionally, users have raised concerns regarding continuous vibrations on certain sections of the line, attributing the issue to Adif.
