Reniec: Youth aged 18-29 lead electoral roll for 2026 elections

The National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) has released data regarding the electoral roll for the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections (ERM). Nationally, citizens aged 18 to 29 represent the largest demographic group, totaling approximately 6.7 million voters.

In the Ica region, this trend is mirrored, with the 18 to 29 age group accounting for 183,599 voters, or 25.47% of the local electorate. The second largest group in Ica is citizens aged 30 to 39 (21.64%), followed by those aged 60 and older (19.70%).

Other notable statistics include 302,498 citizens nationwide who will turn 18 by the election date and 8,498 citizens over the age of 100. Reniec noted that voting is optional for individuals over 70 years of age. The elections are scheduled for Sunday, October 4, to elect authorities for the 2027-2030 period.
