Renna Taxi Tübingen targeted by algorithmic sabotage on Google Maps

Renna Taxi, a regional taxi operator based in Tübingen, Germany, has been subjected to coordinated cyber‑sabotage aimed at its online presence. Competitors allegedly used "flag‑spamming" to file false reports against the company’s Google Business profiles, resulting in the deletion of two profiles three years ago and the loss of more than 300 genuine five‑star reviews.

In June 2026 the company’s newly rebuilt profile was suspended twice within days after automated mass reports claimed the content was irrelevant. The sabotage also targeted verified customer reviews, including those from Google "Local Guides," which were mass‑reported as defamatory. A court request to reveal the attackers’ IP addresses was denied, preserving their anonymity. In response, Renna Taxi’s owner, Gianluca Renna, has shifted all bookings to the company’s own website and WhatsApp, urging customers to avoid using search‑engine platforms for reservations.
