Rennes opposition questions €26 million central kitchen project

During a Rennes municipal council meeting on September 28, opposition leader Charles Compagnon raised concerns regarding the €26 million cost of a new central kitchen project in Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche. While supporting the goals of improving meal quality and sustainability, Compagnon questioned the project's scale, economic model, and the lack of transparency regarding the total cost per meal and necessary staffing levels.

The facility is intended to complement the Beauregard kitchen, which is scheduled for rehabilitation in 2030. Once operational, the two sites are expected to produce 18,500 meals daily, including approximately 1,900 meals for other municipalities. The estimated construction costs have risen to €15.447 million, a 5% increase from previous projections.
