German child homicide cases: Fabian in Güstrow and baby in Renningen

In Güstrow, Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, eight‑year‑old Fabian was killed on 10 October 2025. Prosecutors say he was stabbed six times, his body was left in a pond and later set on fire. A 30‑year‑old woman, Gina H., accused of the murder, has remained silent. Case analysts who examined the evidence described the crime as a planned killing motivated by personal reasons, stating “the boy was innocent”.

In Renningen, near Stuttgart, a three‑month‑old baby was reported missing in June 2026. The child’s body was discovered a few hundred metres from the mother’s home and DNA testing confirmed his identity. Police have arrested the 32‑year‑old mother, Dijana L., on suspicion of having killed her son. Investigators have found no evidence of abduction and the cause of death remains unclear, though the mother is being held on a charge of manslaughter.
