Renovated Eleftherios Venizelos Street Section Reopens to Traffic in Thessaloniki

The municipal works on Eleftherios Venizelos Street in the Ampelokipoi district of Thessaloniki have been completed. The renovated stretch runs from Plateia Eptalofou to Eleftherias Street and includes new asphalt surfacing, rebuilt sidewalks with disabled access, modern blind‑crossings, upgraded urban equipment and extensive tree‑planting.

The road was handed over to full traffic on Sunday, 9 August 2026 at 06:00. Public‑transport line 21 of OASTH resumes its original route along the street. The project is part of the municipality’s broader programme to improve public spaces and major traffic arteries, aiming to provide safer, higher‑quality conditions for drivers and pedestrians and to enhance the area’s environmental footprint.
