Renovation of Rotterdam's historic post office set to resume in September

Work on the former post office at Coolsingel 42 in Rotterdam, halted for almost a year after developer Omnam Group ended its contract with Italian main contractor Rizzia de Eccher, may restart in September. Omnam expects to finalize a new contract with a specialist contract‑manager to coordinate subcontractors and to complete project refinancing within weeks, according to a letter from city councillor Chantal Zeegers. The new party will handle process organisation while Omnam retains financial risk. A structural steel specialist has also been appointed, and negotiations with other subcontractors are advanced. If the arrangements are confirmed, the restoration of the monument‑section is slated to continue, with an estimated completion time of eighteen to twenty months.
