Renārs Kadžulis appeals ruling to apologize to Vienotība party

Renārs Kadžulis, leader of the company Soaar, has appealed a court ruling that required him to retract statements and issue a public apology to the political party Vienotība. The dispute originated from allegations made by Kadžulis in April 2024, during which he claimed that Artis Kampars, then the General Secretary of Vienotība, had encouraged him to falsify election results during the 2014 Saeima elections.

The Riga City Court previously ruled that Kadžulis's statements were not mere opinions but verifiable claims regarding specific criminal actions, such as election document forgery and improper vote counting. The court found that Kadžulis failed to prove the truth of these accusations and noted that the remarks were intended to discredit the party during a pre-election period. While the court ordered a retraction and apology, it did not grant the party's request for non-material damage compensation.

Kadžulis maintains that the court did not properly evaluate his evidence. The case is scheduled to be heard by the Riga Regional Court on March 8, 2027.
