Rental delinquency rates in Southern Brazil show mixed trends

Rental delinquency rates in Southern Brazil have shown varying trends according to the latest Loft Rental Delinquency Index (IIA). In Rio Grande do Sul, the rate fell for the third consecutive month, dropping from 5.7% to 5.5% in October, marking the lowest rate in the series since May 2024.

In Paraná, the delinquency rate rose from 5.0% in September to 5.2% in October. Despite this increase, Paraná maintains the second-lowest delinquency rate among the seven states monitored, trailing only Rio de Janeiro.

Nationally, the index decreased for the third consecutive month to 5.84%. In the South region, the rate fell from 5.6% to 5.5%. Experts suggest that while family debt remains a factor, the 'Desenrola' program has provided some financial relief to households, positively impacting rental payments.
