Rental Family film expands to 53 theaters following sold-out run

The debut film by director Ryunosuke Uesaka, ‘Rental Family’, has seen a significant expansion in its theatrical release. Originally scheduled to play at only one theater in Shinjuku, the film’s distribution has expanded to 53 theaters nationwide following 22 consecutive days of sold-out tickets.

During a stage greeting event in Tokyo, Uesaka and lead actress Yuri Ogino joined thirteen others to celebrate the expansion. Uesaka, who expressed deep emotion during the event, shared that the film was a personal project driven by a desire to pursue filmmaking after the passing of his grandfather. He noted that the expansion includes screenings in his home prefecture of Hyogo, which he described as a meaningful opportunity to share his work.
