Renton High School assistant principal replaced after sexual misconduct investigation
Rashaad Powell, an assistant principal and boys basketball head coach at Renton High School, has been replaced following an investigation by the Renton School District. The investigation found that Powell violated district policies and professional responsibilities by sending sexually explicit messages and photos to two mothers of students within the district's athletic programs.
According to the investigation, Powell sent an alleged proposition for sex to one mother and shared photos and videos of himself masturbating with another. While Powell claimed the communications were consensual, the district report stated that his position of authority created an inherent power imbalance that compromised the voluntariness of the interactions.
Powell was placed on administrative leave in April. His contracts will not be renewed for the 2026-2027 school year, and the district has already hired a new assistant principal and coach to fill his positions.
