Renu Dhariyal sets Guinness World Record for longest hair
Renu Dhariyal, a 35-year-old resident of Haldwani, Uttarakhand, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest hair on a living woman. Her hair measures 271.50 cm (approximately 8 feet 10 inches), surpassing the previous record held by Ukraine’s Aliiia Nasyrova, whose hair measured 257.33 cm.
Dhariyal, who has been growing her hair since 2015, attributes her achievement to patience and a natural care routine. She avoids chemical products, instead opting for homemade oils and shampoos, which she shares with her audience as a YouTuber. Maintaining the hair requires several hours of washing, drying, and detangling, and she often braids it in specific ways to prevent it from touching the ground.
For Dhariyal, the record is also a reflection of Indian culture and tradition, where long hair is viewed as a symbol of beauty and womanhood. A Guinness World Records team formally inspected and measured her hair in Haldwani in April to certify the record.
