Renuka Chowdhury accuses BJP of appropriating Vande Mataram

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of using the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’, to further divisive politics. Chowdhury claimed the government is attempting to appropriate the song to instigate communal sentiments.

In an interview, Chowdhury also addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘dimagi naxal’ remarks made during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort. She criticized the comments, stating that such rhetoric from a major national stage is regrettable. Additionally, she dismissed allegations regarding Sonia Gandhi and the playing of the song at Congress headquarters as a diversionary tactic intended to shift focus away from pressing public issues and the future of students.
