Renzo Salas proposes transport reforms for Arequipa

Renzo Salas Herrera, the mayoral candidate for Arequipa representing Tradición y Futuro, has presented a platform focused on reforming public transportation and improving citizen security. His urban mobility plan includes the creation of an autonomous technical authority to manage a multimodal transport system, independent of political interests.

Key proposals include reviewing route concessions, modernizing the fleet with electric units, and implementing a centralized collection system based on kilometers traveled. To improve regional connectivity, Salas suggests integrating elevated teleferics in the Mariano Melgar, Paucarpata, and Miraflores sectors to serve as feeder routes for the main corridor. Additionally, he proposes evaluating the use of the existing Yura-city railway for an urban passenger train in coordination with private companies.

Regarding his previous management in Sachaca, Salas highlighted the acquisition of approximately 100 million soles for infrastructure, health, and sanitation projects, including the Sachaca health post and water and sewage improvements. He also noted the success of the 'Sachaca Nutre' program in reducing anemia rates.
