Rep. Becca Balint tours Bennington County museums and college

U.S. Rep. Becca Balint (D‑VT) spent Tuesday visiting Bennington County, stopping at the Bennington Museum, the Benn High redevelopment project and Bennington College. At the museum, Executive Director Martin W. Mahoney showed her the newly renovated $2.7 million courtyard and permanent exhibitions, and highlighted the venue’s free community programming.

Balint raised concerns about federal arts funding, noting that recent Republican‑led House rules have limited support for institutions like the museum. She expressed hope that a Democratic win in November could restore funding flexibility. College officials briefed her on new programs and ongoing challenges, emphasizing the importance of higher‑education and cultural resources for the region.
