Rep. Blake Moore backs investigation into Trump Jr. wedding funding

Utah Representative Blake Moore has expressed support for Senator John Curtis’s call to investigate Donald Trump Jr. regarding a private-island wedding after-party reportedly funded by a Russian oligarch with ties to Vladimir Putin. Speaking at a Sutherland Institute forum at the University of Utah, Moore described the acceptance of such funds as “one of the most tone-deaf things I’ve ever seen.”

Senator Curtis has formally requested that the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary launch an investigation into whether presidential family relationships are being used for private financial benefit or to provide preferential access to foreign interests.

During the same forum, Moore also addressed national fiscal policy, advocating for a bipartisan fiscal commission to address the national debt. He argued that greater congressional oversight is necessary to curb government fraud and ensure that major federal spending programs, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, are subject to annual votes rather than running on autopilot.
