Rep. Ilhan Omar scheduled to appear with Hasan Piker

Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar is set to appear at a sold-out event in Minneapolis hosted by state Senator Omar Fateh. The event, part of Fateh’s “I’m The Host Now!” series, features commentator Hasan Piker.

The appearance has drawn significant criticism from Republican opponents and some members of the Democratic Party. GOP candidate John Nagel and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer condemned the event, citing Piker’s past controversial statements regarding 9/11 and Israel.

Within the Democratic Party, some Minnesota officials have expressed concern. Representative Angie Craig described Piker’s rhetoric as “polarizing and dangerous,” while Senator Amy Klobuchar’s gubernatorial campaign labeled his past statements “reckless and unacceptable.” Political analysts suggest the event may create a divide within the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party ahead of upcoming midterm elections.
