Rep. Jeff Van Drew criticizes Senate filibuster over SAVE America Act
U.S. Representative Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) has criticized the Senate for using the filibuster to block the SAVE America Act. Speaking on Fox Business Network, Van Drew described the use of the filibuster as “shameful,” “obstructionist,” and “harmful,” arguing that it prevents the majority from fulfilling the will of the public.
The SAVE America Act, which has passed the House multiple times, would require voters to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Van Drew defended the measure, stating that requiring identification is not voter suppression but a way to ensure responsible voting. He noted that the bill has been stalled in the Senate since February.
