Rep. John Larson will not seek third-party run after primary loss
U.S. Representative John Larson, a Democrat representing Connecticut’s 1st District, will not seek a third-party candidacy in the upcoming November general election. This decision follows his defeat in the August four-way Democratic primary by former Hartford Mayor Luke Broninin.
Larson’s spokesperson, Charles Perosino, confirmed that the representative will not pursue any alternative path to appear on the November 3 ballot. This marks the conclusion of Larson’s 28-year tenure in Congress, which is set to end early next year.
In a statement, Larson emphasized the need for Democratic unity to oppose Donald Trump, citing rising costs for families and foreign policy concerns. He expressed his intention to fulfill his responsibilities for the remainder of his term.
