Rep. Lance Gooden Faces House Ethics Committee Review

Republican U.S. Representative Lance Gooden of Texas is the subject of a preliminary review by the House Committee on Ethics after the independent Office of Congressional Ethics (OCC) forwarded findings on June 10. The allegations focus on finance‑related matters, including questions about whether Gooden complied with the STOCK Act’s requirement to timely disclose stock trades.

The Ethics Committee has until Nov 9 to decide whether to launch a full investigation. Gooden has called the inquiry a politically motivated attack, describing the claims as “bogus spending allegations” by “unelected OCC bureaucrats.” He is the fifth Texas GOP ally to face such scrutiny this year and maintains that the committee will ultimately clear him.
