Max Miller to remain in Ohio reelection race amid abuse allegations

Representative Max Miller, a Republican from Ohio, will remain in the race for reelection in the 7th Congressional District despite intense pressure from within his party to withdraw. The decision follows the expiration of the legal deadline for Ohio Republican leaders to replace him on the ballot.

Miller faces serious allegations of domestic and child abuse made by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. The accusations include physical violence, such as throwing boiling water at her and fracturing their daughter's collarbone, as well as allegations of illegal drug use. The House Ethics Committee has launched an investigation into these claims.

Several prominent Republicans, including Senator Bernie Moreno (Miller's former father-in-law), Senator Jim Banks, and Senator Jon Husted, have called for Miller's resignation or withdrawal. Party officials have expressed concern that the controversy could jeopardize the GOP's ability to hold the seat, which was previously considered a safe Republican district. Miller has denied all allegations and intends to fight to clear his name.
