Rep. Mike Turner urges tougher Russia sanctions and more Iran briefings for Congress
Republican Representative Mike Turner appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation to press for a new Russia sanctions bill, describing it as a legacy of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham and urging swift Senate action to sustain support for Ukraine. Turner highlighted his role as head of the U.S. delegation to NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly and reiterated his long‑standing focus on national‑security issues.
In the same interview, Turner criticized the Trump administration for not providing sufficient information to Congress on Iran, calling for greater transparency about the country’s nuclear program and the reopening of the Straits of Hormuz. He argued that more congressional insight is needed to assess Iran’s capabilities and to support diplomatic efforts toward an open maritime corridor and a halt to nuclear enrichment.
Turner’s remarks reflect ongoing GOP debates over how aggressively the United States should confront Russia and Iran while maintaining aid to Ukraine.
