Rep. Randy Fine proposes resolution to expel Ilhan Omar

Florida Republican Representative Randy Fine announced plans to introduce a resolution to expel Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) should a federal investigation confirm she violated the law. Fine stated he has contacted the Department of Justice to seek details regarding an ongoing investigation into Omar’s immigration status.

Omar’s Washington residence was reportedly raided by federal immigration authorities on October 12 as part of a criminal probe. While Omar has denied allegations regarding her citizenship and identity, calling claims of a fake name “categorically false,” critics have questioned her legal status.

Former President Donald Trump has also called for Omar’s immediate resignation, alleging she used a fake name to be sworn into Congress. Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed the timing of the investigation, noting it is a “long-running case.” Omar is currently running for reelection in the upcoming midterm elections.
