Rep. Ro Khanna backs ex‑girlfriend's abuse claims against Maine candidate Graham Platner

U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, said on CBS’s Face the Nation that he believes Lyndsey Fifield, the former girlfriend of Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner, regarding her allegations of emotional abuse and toxic behavior. Khanna condemned Platner’s past conduct, described it as “shameful” and “ugly,” and warned that the accuser should not be attacked for speaking out. He also defended the New York Times journalist who reported the story, urging that partisanship not justify personal attacks. Khanna noted that Platner, a Marine veteran, had previously acknowledged mistakes and cited a period of post‑traumatic stress disorder during the alleged abuse. The remarks come as Platner seeks the Democratic nomination for the Maine Senate race.
