Rep. Thomas Massie blasts GOP spending bill linked to Iran war

Republican Representative Thomas Massie (R‑KY) publicly attacked fellow Republicans over a proposed $75 billion military spending package tied to the United States’ ongoing war in Iran. On X, he derided Speaker Mike Johnson’s SAVE Act, saying it was a “bright shiny object” meant to distract from a larger defense bill that would fund the Iran conflict and includes a $10 billion fund for state election‑security programs.

Massie also mocked a resurfaced post by Donald Trump Jr. that praised his father’s resolve on the Iran war, replying, “My raw milk ages better than this.” Other conservatives, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, joined the criticism, describing the legislation as a “Trump‑requested $93 billion bill” that would allocate $60 billion to the Pentagon for the Iran war, which has killed 17 U.S. service members and injured more than 430.
