Rep. Tim Burchett plans to block Darializa Avila Chevalier from Congress

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) has announced plans to attempt to block Democratic nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier from taking her seat in Congress if she wins the upcoming election. Burchett intends to use a parliamentary move when the new Congress convenes in January, seeking a simple majority to prevent the New York socialist from being seated before taking the oath of office.

The move is a response to comments made by Chevalier in which she claimed to have used the American flag as a napkin. Burchett characterized the remark as an affront to the Constitution and to the service of military members, citing his own family's history of service in World War II and the Navy.
