REPAFER hosts workshops to advance Women, Peace and Security Agenda

The Network for the Empowerment of Rural Women (REPAFER) organized a capacity-building workshop in Manga, Burkina Faso, on August 18–19, 2026. Supported by Diakonia and the West African Network of Associations and NGOs Fighting Gender-Based Violence (ROAO-LVBG), the event targeted women, youth, and community leaders from the Djoro, Guiriko, and Nazinon regions.

The workshop focused on women's rights, gender equality, and the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 regarding the ‘Women, Peace and Security’ (WPS) Agenda. Participants discussed social roles, inequalities, and cultural practices that hinder women's empowerment. The goal is to train community leaders to act as champions for change and promote women's participation in peace and security mechanisms.

In a related effort, civil society partners engaged in the WPS project also participated in a virtual session focused on change management. This training emphasized shifting traditional practices to empower women and youth as drivers of their own development through stakeholder mapping, community dialogue, and qualitative monitoring of social impact.
