Repco Brabham BT19 to enter Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame
The Repco Brabham BT19, the historic Formula One car driven by Sir Jack Brabham, is being inducted into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame. This marks the first time a vehicle, rather than an individual, has received this honor. The induction ceremony is scheduled for March 5, 2026, during the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne.
The BT19 is celebrated for enabling Brabham to become the only driver-constructor in history to win the Formula One World Championship in a car bearing his own name. The car, designed by Ron Tauranac and powered by a Melbourne-produced Repco engine, secured both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 1966.
The induction coincides with the 60th anniversary of the 1966 title victory and the centenary of Jack Brabham’s birth. The car has been featured in various anniversary celebrations, including demonstration laps at Albert Park driven by Brabham’s grandson, Sam Brabham.
