Repensando Venezuela initiative gathers citizen proposals for national policy

The initiative ‘Repensando Venezuela’ has organized a series of forums and citizen consultations aimed at gathering public proposals to shape future national policies. In San Antonio de los Altos, opposition mayors including Edgar Laya (Los Salias), Darwin González (Baruta), and Fernando Melena (El Hatillo) met to discuss using local governance experience to address national priorities in health, education, and public services.

A community consultation held in the Petare area collected over 40 proposals from residents and professionals. Key suggestions included the creation of a Sovereign Fund and the decentralization of public services. During the forum, economist José Guerra identified three urgent economic challenges for the country: stabilizing the dollar to curb inflation, achieving harmonious economic growth to create jobs outside oil zones, and reducing poverty.

Participants and political figures, including Elías Sayegh, emphasized that these grassroots ideas are intended to serve as a roadmap for a future government, focusing on active listening to restore dignity and development to the citizenry.
