Anto Augustine faces multiple legal cases in Kerala

Anto Augustine, Managing Director of Reporter Broadcasting Corporation, is facing multiple legal challenges in Kerala. A court in Sulthan Bathery denied his bail request regarding an illegal liquor possession case under the Kerala Abkari Act. Authorities allegedly recovered approximately 67 litres of foreign liquor and wine during a search of his ancestral home in Wayanad. This arrest followed raids by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating alleged financial irregularities related to a failed football event involving Lionel Messi.

Simultaneously, Augustine has sought anticipatory bail in a new case filed in Thiruvananthapuram. This second matter involves allegations of a conspiracy to spread false claims regarding the marriage of Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan. The complaint was lodged by Congress leader Raju P. Nair, who alleges that the claims were part of a blackmail strategy. The Thiruvananthapuram District Court is scheduled to consider the anticipatory bail plea on September 23.
