Repsol Perú releases documentary on ancestral knowledge in Cusco
Repsol Perú has released a documentary titled ‘Guardianes del Saber’ (Guardians of Knowledge) to document and preserve the ancestral traditions of the Camisea and Shivankoreni native communities. Located in the Megantoni district of Cusco, the project was developed in coordination with the District Municipality of Megantoni and the Decentralized Culture Directorate of Cusco.
The production, which took approximately six months to complete, focuses on several cultural pillars, including medicinal plant healing, the creation of crafts using native cotton, and the significance of traditional iconography. It also highlights the use of natural pigments such as huito and achiote, as well as dyeing techniques and the use of forest resources like palm fibers and seeds.
The initiative aims to strengthen collective memory and cultural identity, facilitating the transmission of these traditions to younger generations. The documentary is available to the public on the company’s website.
