Repsol secures licenses for Alba project factories in Sines

Repsol has received the Digital Industrial Exploitation Title for two new factories under the Alba project in Sines, Portugal. The company expects these facilities to begin operations by the end of this year.

During the licensing ceremony at the Sines Industrial Complex, Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion Manuel Castro Almeida and Sines Mayor Álvaro Beijinha discussed the need for increased public investment in the municipality. Mayor Beijinha highlighted that while large-scale investments—estimated at over 20 billion euros—drive national growth and energy transition, they place significant pressure on local infrastructure. He noted a 12% population increase in Sines between 2021 and 2025, which has strained local housing, schools, healthcare, and security services. The Mayor also raised concerns regarding municipal revenue, noting that despite the massive industrial presence, local tax receipts (Derrama) have remained low.
