Repsol workers announce strikes for November 3 and 4
The Sindicato de Trabajadores (STR) has called for two days of strikes on November 3 and 4 across several divisions of Repsol, including Repsol Fuels, Repsol Materials, Repsol Trading, and RLESA. The decision follows the failure of mediation efforts at the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA).
The industrial action will impact multiple facilities across Spain. In the Fuels division, strikes are planned at refineries in A Coruña, Cartagena, Puertollano, and Tarragona. The Materials division will see stoppages at chemical plants in Puertollano and Tarragona, as well as office and service staff. Additionally, the strike will affect Trading personnel in Madrid and RLESA facilities, including lubricant and specialty plants in Puertollano and Palencia.
Union representatives claim that management's current proposals are “very far below” the company's economic capacity. The STR is demanding wage increases, revisions to bonuses, guarantees for adequate staffing levels, and effective work-life balance measures. The union warned that these two days may be the beginning of a broader mobilization process if sufficient progress is not made in collective bargaining negotiations.
