Repsol Workers' Union members reject preliminary labor agreement

Approximately 77% of members of the Repsol Workers' Union (Sindicato de Trabajadores) have rejected a preliminary labor agreement reached between the energy company and the CCOO and UGT unions. The vote, conducted through both in-person assemblies and electronic means between July 23 and August 24, will dictate the union's official stance toward Repsol management.

Jordi Margalef, the union's Communications Secretary, stated that the proposed economic conditions do not reflect the company's financial performance. The agreement primarily includes wage adjustments linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and a one-time 3% payment that does not become a permanent part of the base salary. The union also noted that the deal fails to adequately address pending demands, specifically those of the ‘Fuera de Tablas’ collective.

The union has questioned the speed with which the preliminary agreement was signed on July 15, noting it occurred shortly before the company reported significant financial results, including an adjusted net profit of 2.711 billion euros for the first half of 2026.
