Repubblica Futura criticizes judicial decision on Massimiliano Simoncini case

The political party Repubblica Futura has issued a sharp critique following a decision by the Judicial Council regarding the case of magistrate Massimiliano Simoncini. The party argues that the decision aligns with the government and judicial leadership's stance, effectively ignoring a ruling from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

Repubblica Futura traces the current situation back to a 2020 judicial reform led by then-Secretary of State for Justice Massimo Andrea Ugolini. They claim this reform led to the appointment of Giovanni Canzio to the head of the Tribunal and resulted in Simoncini being demoted. The party asserts that fully implementing the ECHR ruling to reinstate Simoncini as a Law Commissioner would undermine the political foundations of recent justice reforms.

Furthermore, the party warns that the Judicial Council's refusal to follow the ECHR's findings may expose San Marino to international reputational damage and additional financial costs for public compensation.
